Memorial Day Hat

We made this little hat craft to show our love for the soldiers

Supplies:
blue construction paper
white construction paper
Stapler
Scissors
Red crayon
Tape
Stickers
Straws (2 per hat)

Cut a piece of construction paper in half and fold in half.

I folded each one down and stapled one piece to the end of the other one to make a long band.
Measure it around the head and staple.  You can cover the staple with a piece of tape so it doesn't snag the hair.
Next, we needed to make flags.  I cut a piece of construction paper in half three times. (short way)  You'll end up with the two long rectangles.
Cut out a small rectangle to glue in the corner.  We put star stickers on, and drew 13 stripes on the flag.  Next, I cut a piece of a straw (you can leave them as long as you want) and stapled the flag to the straw.

Stick the flags inside the fold of your head band.  You can staple them in if you want.  I didn't in case the kids wanted to take one out and wave them.

Finished product - Two little troopers showing love for the soldiers.

If you're happy and you know it

My toddler absolutely loves this video.  All the characters are very much alive and active during the whole song rather than just the action parts.

Shapes Song For Older Elementary Kids 3rd-5th

Learning Body Parts

Well, it's taken us almost two weeks to review body parts. (We were supposed to be doing body parts last week  and then clothing this week.) Mainly because my mom kept my little boogers and Caleb refused to cooperate with her yelling, "No, mama."  So here's what we did.

We made a face out of things around the house.

Formerly, "Nick the Noun"  I reused him for Caleb to identify his body parts.

I decided to use fabric paint and make a helping hands shirt.  Our hands were a little too helpful.

Using baby dolls to point out and name body parts

We read this and another one titled "Thank You God, for My Two Ears"

We also listened and danced to these songs,

Coloring sheets

Next week is Earth Week

Goods And Services

Cate has been learning goods and services at school and I remembered I had an activity for this. Print out clip art images and glue to index cards. Sort into groups. These also have velcro on the back to use with a poster.

Scripture Comics

We've been learning scriptures in the Bible. Every week, we post one on the wall and try to memorize it. I decided since the kids like to draw, they could draw a picture to help them remember the scriptures. We used a composition notebook to write the scriptures and draw and we will also be adding Bible stories to the books. I like to call them scripture comics. The kids think it's pretty cool.

4.  Empty tomb paper plate craft - Paint a plate, cut in half and staple.  Add a fastner for the movable stone.  We attempted to put an angel in the inside using his finger print for the head and the sweeping motion for the body.  Not too bad.

Learning Books of the Bible

Write books of the bible on popsicle sticks. Kids can practice putting them in order. Add a magnet and stick on the fridge or magnetic board.

Bee Valentine

Wouldn't that bee cute for mom or dad? You could even add a sweet tart candy in the middle and switch out the words too, "I'm sweet on you, honey."

Music To My Heart Valentine

Valentine's Day is almost here. Here is a simple Valentine that would be a great gift for a parent. Use your little one's fingerprints to create music notes. I made them on white paper, then glued it onto the red. I cut out hearts at the last minute, not sure where Caleb would stick them. I think it turned out okay. What do you think?
